What We Do

India's infrastructure growth story is built one road at a time — and JK Construction has been an active contributor to that story for over two and a half decades, across highways, bridges, drainage structures and earth retention systems.

Highway & Road Construction

We undertake the construction and development of National Highways (NH) and State Highways (SH) in compliance with IRC codes and MoRTH specifications, along with district roads, MDR/ODR as per PMGSY and state PWD guidelines, and urban connector roads.

  • Proper subgrade preparation, granular sub-base (GSB), wet mix macadam (WMM), dense bituminous macadam (DBM) and bituminous concrete (BC) wearing courses
  • Concrete roads and rigid pavements using high-grade Ready Mix Concrete conforming to IS:456, IRC:15 and IRC:SP:62
  • Thorough geotechnical investigation and pavement design as per IRC:37, with strict quality control at every layer

Our paving teams are supported by modern equipment including motor graders, vibratory rollers, sensor pavers and in-situ testing instruments, ensuring every stretch is built to last its full design life and beyond.

Bridge Works — Minor Bridges & Causeways

We specialise in minor bridges, vehicular underpasses, pedestrian subways, causeways and vented causeways, designed and executed in strict accordance with:

IRC:5 — Design Code of Practice IRC:6 — Loads & Stresses IRC:21 — Cement Concrete IRC:78 — Foundation & Substructure IS:456:2000

Our process covers every stage — substructure (foundation, abutments, piers), superstructure (girders, deck slab, wearing coat), and all protective works such as crash barriers, railing, expansion joints and drainage spouts. We work with RCC, precast elements and composite structures depending on span and hydraulic requirements.

The single most critical element in bridge durability is the concrete itself — which is where our in-house Ready Mix Concrete division becomes our greatest competitive advantage.

Box Culverts & Drainage Works

A poorly constructed culvert causes waterlogging, road damage and embankment failure. JK Construction takes culvert construction with the same seriousness as major structures, building:

  • Box culverts — single, double, triple and multiple cell configurations
  • Pipe culverts — RCC NP-3 and NP-4 class
  • Slab culverts and arch culverts
  • Hume pipe drainage structures

Designed as per IRC:SP:13 and IS:783, with hydraulic design ensuring waterway openings are adequate for peak flow, and foundations based on sub-soil investigation to prevent differential settlement or uplift. All reinforcement detailing, concrete grades and waterproofing are executed strictly as per design drawings and relevant IRC/IS codes.

Retaining Walls & Earth Retention

Hilly terrain, embankments over weak ground and cut-and-fill sections all demand reliable earth retention. JK Construction designs and constructs:

  • Gravity retaining walls in PCC/RCC
  • Cantilever retaining walls in RCC
  • Counterfort retaining walls for higher retained heights
  • Gabion walls for flexible, eco-friendly retention in rivers and gorges
  • Reinforced Earth (RE) walls for major highway embankments

Designed as per IRC:SP:48 and IS:456, with proper consideration of earth pressure, surcharge loads, hydrostatic pressure, seismic zone requirements and long-term drainage. Weep holes, drainage blankets and filter layers are integral to every wall we build — not afterthoughts.

In-House Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) Division

The quality of concrete determines the life of a structure. A bridge built with inconsistent concrete will crack, spall and corrode reinforcement within 10–15 years. A road with the wrong water-cement ratio will shatter under heavy axle loads.

At JK Construction, we resolved this challenge by establishing our own state-of-the-art Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) plant — giving us complete control over concrete quality from the moment raw materials are sourced to the moment concrete is poured into formwork.

What Goes Into Every Cubic Metre of Our RMC

Aggregates

Coarse & fine aggregates from tested quarries with established gradation curves — every lot tested for crushing value, impact value, flakiness, elongation index and deleterious content.

🏭

Cement

OPC 53 Grade or PPC from certified manufacturers, stored on FIFO basis in weatherproof silos. Every bag tested for setting time, soundness and compressive strength.

💧

Water

Only potable water conforming to standards. Water-cement ratio strictly controlled — typically 0.40 to 0.50 for structural applications.

🧪

Admixtures

Compliant superplasticizers, retarders and accelerators improve workability and reduce water demand without compromising strength.

♻️

SCMs

Fly ash (IS:3812) and GGBS (IS:16714) added where specified to improve long-term strength and resist sulphate attack and chloride ingress.

Our RMC quality assurance is not a checkbox exercise — it is a multi-stage, engineered system built on the discipline that highway and bridge construction demands. Every step is documented, every result recorded, and every batch traceable from raw material to finished structure.

Before a single batch is produced

Raw Material Testing & Approval

Quality concrete begins long before the batching plant starts. Every raw material entering our plant is tested and approved before use:

  • Coarse aggregate — crushing value, impact value, Los Angeles abrasion, flakiness & elongation index, specific gravity, water absorption; only aggregates passing IS:383 limits are approved
  • Fine aggregate (sand) — sieve analysis and fineness modulus to confirm Zone grading, plus silt content and organic impurity tests
  • Cement — standard consistency, setting time, soundness by Le-Chatelier apparatus, and 3-day/7-day mortar cube strength before clearance
  • Water — tested for pH, chloride content, sulphate content and TDS; only approved sources permitted
  • Admixtures & SCMs — compatibility and dosage trials, plus fineness, loss on ignition and reactivity index checks

The blueprint of concrete quality

Mix Design

We do not use nominal mix proportions for structural applications. Every grade is governed by a standard design mix that accounts for:

  • Target mean strength (characteristic strength + statistical margin for variability)
  • Water-cement ratio limits per exposure condition (Mild, Moderate, Severe, Very Severe, Extreme)
  • Workability requirement for the specific element and placement method
  • Maximum and minimum cement content limits for heat of hydration and durability

Trial mixes are cast and tested at 7 and 28 days before the design mix is finalised and submitted for consultant/client approval — only after written approval is it adopted for production.

Precision at every batch

Production Controls

  • Computerised batching plant with load cell-based weighing accurate to ±1% for all materials
  • Real-time display and logging of batch weights — any deviation triggers an automatic alert before discharge
  • Water added by weight, not volume, accounting for daily-measured free moisture in aggregates
  • Fresh concrete temperature monitored at discharge — concrete above 30°C is rejected or remedied as per IS:7861
  • Transit mixer drum revolutions logged to confirm adequate mixing before discharge
  • Slump tested at plant before loading and again at site on arrival — out-of-range batches are rejected and returned

Verification where it matters most

Testing at Site

  • Slump cone test on every batch arrival to confirm workability
  • 150mm cube specimens cast from every batch, in sets of 3+, under standardised water-curing
  • 7-day compressive strength for early warning; 28-day compressive strength as the definitive acceptance criterion (fck)
  • Rebound hammer test for rapid in-situ assessment on large pours
  • Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) test to detect internal voids or honeycombing
  • Core cutting & strength testing where directed by consultant or quality auditor
  • Carbonation depth testing to assess CO₂ penetration and reinforcement protection
  • Rapid Chloride Penetration Test (RCPT) for moisture-exposed or chemically aggressive environments

Every delivery is accompanied by a Delivery Challan with full batch report — materials, mix proportions, water-cement ratio, slump value, batch weight and despatch time — providing complete traceability from plant to pour.

Concrete that carries a bridge carrying 70-tonne trucks does not forgive mistakes. And neither does concrete in your home — it simply fails more quietly, and often more dangerously. To survive floods, thermal cycling and aggressive ground conditions for a 50–75 year design life, we demand water-cement ratios below 0.45, minimum cement contents of 360–400 kg/m³, proper cover to reinforcement, and controlled curing for a minimum of 14 days.

    NH-135C Widening & Strengthening — Rampur to Bhadewara (Km 0.000 to Km 15.000)

    A prestigious national highway project forming the first 15 km of the NH-135C upgradation — setting the standard for the entire stretch that followed. Scope included subgrade treatment, GSB/WMM layers, DBM & BC wearing course, shoulder widening, and drainage structures, executed as per MoRTH's 5th Revision specifications.

    Our RMC division supplied structural concrete for all drainage structures, culverts and minor bridges along this stretch.

    CompletedUttar Pradesh

    NH-135C Widening & Strengthening — Bhadewara to Dramandganj (Km 15.000 to Km 58.600)

    A far more extensive 43.6 km stretch — one of the most significant highway projects in our portfolio, demanding mobilisation of multiple paving crews, concurrent work fronts and real-time quality control across the corridor.

    Completing nearly 58.6 km of national highway across both packages stands as JK Construction's most defining highway achievement, demonstrating our capacity for large-scale NHAI delivery.

    Construction of Drains on Both Sides of NH-76E (Km 400.878 to Km 413.00)

    A 12 km drainage project addressing the single largest cause of premature pavement failure in India. Lined drains were hydraulically designed for peak rainfall discharge, with proper invert levels, slopes and outfall arrangements, using RMC of specified grade throughout.

    CC Road Connecting Bhatauti Crusher Plants, Meja Tehsil, Prayagraj

    A Cement Concrete road connecting crusher plants subject to extremely heavy axle loads from loaded aggregate trucks. Our in-house RMC plant supplied high-grade, consistently batched concrete enabling rapid, uninterrupted paving and uniform slab quality throughout.

    Internal Roads, RCC Drains & RCC Box Culvert — Sectors 7 & 8, Saraswati Hi-Tech City

    An integrated urban infrastructure package within a planned township: internal roads with full pavement structure, RCC drains with manholes and outfalls, RCC box culverts per IRC:SP:13, plus kerbs, footpaths and road markings.

    Every RCC element was built using JK Construction's own RMC, showcasing our ability to function as a single-source, end-to-end infrastructure contractor for township developers.

    OngoingVaranasi Ring Road

    Varanasi Ring Road Strengthening & Overlay — Phase II, Package I (Km 0.000 to Km 16.400)

    One of our most prestigious ongoing assignments — a 16.4 km stretch from Village Rakhauna on NH-19 to Village Vajidpur on NH-31, requiring careful traffic management, night-time paving operations and zero tolerance for surface quality deviation on a busy ring road.
